Water Line Insurance Protection..
|
8/11/2011 10:16 PM (PST)
Just received a mailing from "Home Emergency Insurance Solutions". Wondering if this is a legitimate company and if a policy that would be helpful to have.. concerned as they state they will not cover if water service line is more the 2 inches in diameter, no longer than 200 feet in length.. etc.. My home is approximately 80 years old.. and I don't know. What do you think about getting this policy?

Goodness! My reply didn't post.
Okay,
1) LA Times article is right on. Very odd verbiage and exclusions.
2) The water and sewer lines running from the foundation of your home to the street have always been a common exclusion on MOST but not all HO policies.
***Check with your agent or broker!! On an 80 year old home, do not assume.
3) Most cites do not cover those lines either. Most cities or districts cover the main lines in the street only.
***Check with your water or sewer provider!!! Do not assume.
4) If you live in CA, compare with www.amwater.com
5) If you live in WA or OR, compare with www.nationalwatercompany.com 1800-790-3201
6) Homeserve is the parent company for Home Emergency Insurance Solutions. If you are Googling any of this.
Hope this helps
