I have a student loan that defaulted and was sent to ACT. I received a phone call from Mrs. Peitris stating that my wages are about to be garnished due to non-payment. I didn't understand this because I never received any latters stating that I had to make payments. She said that my wife called and gave her a mailing address in Minnesota, but I live in California. Also, I dont have a wife. I told her I never lived in MN, and didnt even know anybody that far away. She proceeded to tell me that they had my wife (dont have one) on voice record calling in to change the mailing address. This made me furious because they were basically calling me a liar. But when I asked to hear the recording they told me that I wasnt allowed to hear it and there was nothing i could do. After a few minutes of going back and forth with her she told me I was violating the law by telling her i had a wife when i didnt. Even though the whole time I told her I wasnt married. So she flipped the whole thing upside down blaming me for the mis-understanding. This company is horrible. Any help?
